Who We Are
The Oconee Area Resource Council (OARC) is a community-wide cooperative coalition and functions as a Family Connection Partnership. In order to set goals for strengthening the lives of all families in Oconee County, we coordinate the efforts of community leaders, government, schools, parents, and students. OARC meets monthly to identify needs, monitor implementation and evaluate outcomes.
OARC was established in 1989 to coordinate the efforts of community leaders, government officials, citizens, businesses and the school system to set goals for Oconee County. In 1993 the Board of Commissioners along with the State Family Connection Partnership recognized OARC and supported the coalition’s efforts to maintain and nurture a culturally diverse collaborative community partnership that focuses on families, empowers individuals, and is driven by need and is accountable for results.
Our Vision:
We envision a community…
- that supports and encourages the development and self-sufficiency of all families.
- where all children and youth are safe, healthy, and prepared for productive adulthood.
- where all families are able to provide safe, nurturing and stable homes.
In pursuit of this vision,
Our Mission Is:
- To maintain and nurture a culturally diverse and collaborative community partnership that focuses on families, empowers individuals, is driven by need, and is accountable for results.
- To strengthen children and families through enhanced resources and community linkages which support positive outcomes and economic development.
